Please note: During the dry season the boat trip takes 5-6 hours.
Program
Day 1: Travel day to Kumalu/Ping Pe
- 08.00-09.00 Departure from Paramaribo to Pokigron (3/4 hour drive).
- 12.00 hrs arrival in Pokigron where we take the boat for our onward journey to Kumalu or Pingpe.
- Passing about 30 villages towards Kumalu. (3/4 hour sailing)
- Arrival at Kumalu or Ping Pe Island, overnight stay in beds (lodge without air conditioning or fan).
Day 2: Boat trip to Sintiadam
- 08.00 am departure by boat.
- Sailing along Tapawatra/ Gran dam rapids, requiring guests to disembark several times.
- Arrive at Kajana village after 2/3 hours, pick up lunch and supplies.
- Sailing to Sintiadam with a stop at the Awaradam rapids.
- Arrival at Sintiadam after 18.00/19.00 hrs with disembarkation. In the evening there is a campfire.
- Overnight in hammock camp.
Day 3: Hike to Turtle Mountain
- 08:00 am Departure by boat, followed by a 20-minute nature walk.
- Walk to Schildpaddenberg, approximately 5 km there and 5 km back.
- Return to Sintiadam around 4:00/5:00 PM.
- Overnight in hammock camp.
Day 4: Morning Boat Trip and Evening Activities
- +/- 6.00 am morning boat trip: wake up on the river with coffee or tea.
- Morning walk between 9am and 12pm with explanations about flora and fauna.
- Afternoon swimming and/or fishing at the Sintia Dam.
- Night boat trip after dinner to observe night sounds and animals.
- Overnight in the hammock camp.
Day 5: Village exploration and Return to Kumalu/ Ping Pe
- Departure to the villages with a 3-hour stop for extensive village walks in 2/3 villages.
- Lunch in one of the villages in the afternoon.
- Continuation of the journey to Kumalu/ Ping Pe.
- Overnight stay in beds (lodge without air conditioning or fan).
Day 6: Return to Paramaribo
- Around 07.00 β 07.30 departure by boat back to Atjoni.
- Visit to the dam (Afobaka Dam) on the way back.
- Lunch in one of the villages.
- Continuation of the journey to Atjoni
- +/- 4:00 PM arrival in Paramaribo
Handy take-along list
Long pants and long sleeve shirt:Β To protect you from insects and irritating plants. It can also get cold in the evening.
Good walking shoes:Β For protecting your feet and during long walks.
Towel : To dry yourself
Mosquito Repellent : To protect you from insect bites during the tour.
Sunscreen:Β For protection against the sun.
Flashlight/headlamp:Β A flashlight or headlamp is useful for illumination during evening activities or in dark areas.
Swimwear:Β Bring swimwear for swimming and refreshment opportunities.
Toiletries:Β Personal care products such as toothpaste, soap and shampoo for hygiene on the go.
Passport:Β Mandatory due to checkpoint along the way!
Camera & fully charged batteries:Β A camera is essential to capture the beautiful surroundings. Make sure the batteries are fully charged so you don't miss any memorable moments.
Raincoat/ poncho:Β For unexpected showers.
A comfortable backpack:Β The most convenient thing is a large backpack that can hold all your stuff and a small bag that you can keep with you when you visit the village. Furthermore, a waterproof bag is always recommended, because we will be in the boat a lot. If you do not have a waterproof bag, take a garbage bag that your bag fits in.
Waterproof bag for electronics and securities:Β Just in case you want to keep these items safe.
Small change SRD:Β Small change is useful for local purchases, drinks and souvenirs.
Binoculars:Β So that you can view and capture each animal properly.
Storm/bad weather:
The tour company has the right to cancel the trip/tour at any time before departure in case of unforeseeable weather conditions. The activity/tour will be scheduled for another date.
In case of cancellation between the 14th and 7th day before departure, a 50% refund will be honored.
In case of cancellation 6 days or less before departure, unfortunately no refund will be honored.
