Discover history, culture and adventure during our boat trip on the Commewijne river. Visit 3 former plantations: Fort Nieuw-Amsterdam, Rust & Werk and Frederiksdorp. Who knows, we might even meet playful dolphins along the way!
The Commewijne River Tour is perfect for history and nature lovers. Explore historic plantations and enjoy the serene beauty of the river. With the chance to spot playful dolphins, it's an adventure for all ages.
Our first stop is Fort Nieuw-Amsterdam. Fort Nieuw-Amsterdam is the main town of the Commewijne district. We will visit the open-air museum here. You will learn a lot about the different population groups and the slavery past of Suriname. After this we will sail to the former coffee plantation Rust & Werk. Currently, there are still about 300 people living on the former plantation. You will get a tour of the village and on the way we will make a stop to enjoy a cooling coconut.
Our last stop is the former plantation Frederiksdorp. Here you will find beautiful renovated plantation houses. You will have the opportunity to buy your own lunch and when the occupancy is not too high you can also take a refreshing dip in the pool. You can relax here and completely unwind. Around 15:00 we will leave again for the pier of Leonsberg.

Well charged batteries: So you can capture every special moment.
Closed shoes/ Good walking shoes: You will be walking on the tour, so wear your most comfortable shoes!
Hat or cap: So that you can protect your face from the tropical sun.
Mosquito Repellent : To protect you from insect bites during the tour.
Raincoat/poncho: For unexpected showers and to stay dry.
Sunscreen : For sun protection.
Swimwear: At Frederiksdorp you have the opportunity to take a refreshing dip in their swimming pool. Please note that the use of the swimming pool is subject to availability at the resort. If the resort is fully booked, it is unfortunately not possible to use the swimming pool.
Backpack : For during the walk to put personal belongings and possibly your towel or bottle of water
Waterproof bag for electronics and securities: Just in case you want to keep these items safe.
Dry clothes: for after swimming if necessary
Small change SRD/ EURO/ US$: To purchase your lunch and possibly other drinks.
Storm/bad weather:
The tour company has the right to cancel the trip/tour at any time before departure in case of unforeseeable weather conditions. The activity/tour will be scheduled for another date.
In case of cancellation between the 14th and 7th day before departure, a 50% refund will be honored.
In case of cancellation 6 days or less before departure, unfortunately no refund will be honored.
