Description
The island of Isadou, located on the Upper Suriname River opposite the famous Maroon village of Jaw Jaw, is not only popular for its impressive rapids and associated sandy beaches, but also for the tranquility that the place exudes. Isadou is one of the few locations with authentic lodging huts, managed by a local Maroon couple. The tour to Isadou is unique, because it was set up to actively involve the local Maroon population and thus give them the opportunity to benefit from tourism in Suriname. All operations, from cooking to guide services, are entrusted to enthusiastic local residents, who are committed to providing guests with a pleasant experience. On Isadou you can still truly experience the charm of traditional customs and manners.
