Discover the ultimate border adventure from Paramaribo toΒ Saint-Laurent-du-Maroni in French Guiana in just 2.5 hours. Climb aboard a canoe and cross the Maroni River, where you embrace the French atmosphere in the historic town. Explore the Moiwana monument, enjoy a boat trip and admire the French tropics. Follow the historical route related to the Civil War and immerse yourself in the rich history.
During the bus trip you will pass several historical sights such as Stolkertsijver and the Moiwana monument, which remind the local population of the Surinamese civil war (1980s).
First you will visit the bagno (prison), founded in 1858 and around which this town grew. This bagno is now used as a museum and is best known for the film L'affaire Seznec and the film adaptation of the book Papillon.
After visiting the Bagno you will walk past some shops and the market where different population groups sell their products. During the return trip to Paramaribo we will make a stop for lunch.

Hat or cap:Β So that you can protect your face from the tropical sun.
Good walking shoes: You will be walking a lot, so make sure you wear good, comfortable shoes.
Camera & fully charged batteries:Β There will be many beautiful sights that you can take beautiful pictures of.
Raincoat/poncho:Β If it's going to rain.
Sun oil:Β For protection against the sun.
Backpack:Β To put your personal belongings in. Possibly souvenirs etc.
Small change SRD/ Euro (for alcoholic drinks and souvenirs):Β You will need β¬ when you are in French Guiana if you are going to buy something. You will also need β¬'s for the bagno (prison).
Passport:Β Mandatory due to checkpoint along the way.
Storm/bad weather:
The tour company reserves the right to cancel the trip/tour at any time before the time of departure in case of unforeseeable weather conditions. The activity/tour will be rescheduled for another date.
In case of cancellation between the 14th and 7th day before departure, a 50% refund will be honored.
In case of cancellation 6 days or less before departure, unfortunately no refund will be honored.
