Discover authentic Galibi, the only indigenous village in northern Suriname, and during turtle-laying season (Feb-Jul) don’t miss the chance to witness the majestic sea turtles. On this trip you will meet the indigenous Indians in Christiaankondre and explore not only the northeastern districts of Suriname, but also neighboring French Guiana. An exciting boat trip along the border river and a comfortable stay at the Myrysji Lodge complete this tour.

The accommodation is Basic. You have a fan and power supply 110V Between 6:30 – 6:00 pm (for lighting only) and a mosquito net over the bed. Relax and unwind in nature on this trip.

Program

Day 1

  • 08.15-08.30: Departure by bus along the East-West Junction toward Albina.
  • Along the way, our guide shares interesting information about the history and sights.
  • No breakfast on day 1.
  • In Albina, we continue the journey by boat to Christiaankondre. Boat trip takes about 2 hours.
  • Late lunch.
  • Explore the village on a hike and meet the local indigenous people and their culture.
  • Dinner
  • During turtle laying season (February-July) observation of sea turtles laying their eggs at night on the beach.

Day 2

  • Breakfast in Galibi.
  • Free time for a refreshing swim and a visit to the tiger sandbank.
  • In the evening, an impressive cultural Show (with a minimum of 8 guests at the resort).

Day 3

  • Beach walk and refreshing dip in the river accompanied by our guide.
  • Return by boat to Albina, with a stop in St. Laurent.
  • Optional: tour of the local prison (bagno).
  • Lunch in Albina followed by the return trip to Paramaribo.

Mosquito Milk: To protect you from insect bites during the tour.

Backpack: For when hiking to store personal items.

Toiletries: Personal care products such as toothpaste, soap and shampoo for hygiene on the go.

Swimwear: Bring swimwear for swimming opportunities and refreshment.

Dry clothes: Extra clothes to change into after water activities and in case you get wet.

Water shoes: Special shoes for water activities prevent slipping and protect your feet.

Flashlight/headlamp: A flashlight or headlamp is useful for illumination during evening activities or in dark areas.

Change SRD and Euro: Change is handy for local purchases, drinks and souvenirs. Bring cash Euros to French Guiana for entrance Bagno and other purchases.

Waterproof bag serving electronics and valuables: In case you want to keep these items safe.

Passport: Required due to checkpoint en route.

Snacks or energy bars: Convenient on the go or when there is no immediate access to food.

Insect net: For extra protection from mosquitoes, especially if you sleep outside.

Sunglasses: For protection of your eyes from the sun.

Binoculars: Useful if you plan to spot birds or observe other wildlife.

Small power bank: For charging your electronics, especially when there are no outlets nearby.

Storm/bad weather:

The tour company has the right at any time before the departure time, to cancel the trip/ tour in case of unforeseeable weather conditions. The activity/ tour will be rescheduled on another date.

Cancel
If cancelled up to 15 days before departure, a 75% refund will be honored.
For cancellation between the 14th and the 7day before departure, a 50% refund will be honored.
For cancellations 6 days or less before departure, unfortunately no refunds will be honored.
