A function room has four walls. A saloon boat on the Suriname River has a horizon that changes all afternoon. Charter the ship privately and you are not booking a venue but a day: departure time, route and programme are built around your occasion.
The ship is 28 metres long and takes up to 48 guests. On board you will find an atmospheric saloon for when it rains or when there is something to be said, a covered outer deck, a bar, galley facilities, toilets and a spacious sun deck. Buffet tables, chairs, benches and tables are ready for you, along with refrigeration, power and a complete set of tableware. You arrange the catering yourself — cooking on board is not possible, but delivering and serving is.
What is the occasion?
Parties and celebrations. Birthdays, anniversaries, baby showers, or simply an afternoon with friends. Morning, afternoon or evening: the choice is yours. Decorators and a DJ are welcome, with set-up time before and after the trip.
Weddings. From proposal to vows to reception. A private gathering, dinner on deck and a photo shoot against the sun setting over the river.
Corporate sailing. Meetings, presentations, product launches, staff outings, incentives and networking receptions. A projector, sound system and microphone can be hired for talks and presentations. Open water also works remarkably well for brainstorming and team building.
Reunions. Family or friends reunions, where everyone stays together for half a day without anyone slipping away early.
Ash scattering. A restrained, private ceremony on the water, with room for words, music and silence.
Multi-day cruises. The ship has six cabins with twelve berths, each with a shower, toilet and air conditioning, plus a washing machine and dryer. Route and sailing times are put together with you. Along the way you can fish, swim, lie in a hammock on deck, or take the tender to explore creeks and remote villages and plantations the larger ship cannot reach.

Packages of 4 hours or more include one hour of set-up time beforehand and one hour of clearing-up time afterwards. For multi-day cruises and tailor-made programmes we will gladly prepare a suitable quotation.
Frequently asked questions
How many people can I charter the ship for?
A maximum of 48 people. The Maritime Authority Suriname (MAS) set this limit, with only the lower deck available for use. Please take that into account when drawing up your guest list.
Which packages and rates are available?
For non-commercial occasions: ash scattering 3 hours € 500.00; private party drifting 4 hours € 750.00; private party under way 4 hours € 900.00; Commewijne plantation trip 7.5 hours € 900.00. Separate rates apply to commercial events, from € 1,100.00 for four hours.
What is the difference between sailing and drifting?
When drifting, the ship stays around the Waterkant — towards Torarica and under the Wijdenbosch Bridge towards Staatsolie and back. When sailing, we head towards the river mouth and return. Sailing is the broader programme and therefore slightly more expensive.
What does it cost to extend the sailing time?
Extensions start at € 100.00 per hour, with a discount for more than two extra hours. Extending is possible provided the ship is available and no other tour or activity is scheduled afterwards.
May I bring my own catering?
Yes, you may arrange your own food and drink. Cooking on board is not permitted, and catering trays cannot be washed up on board because water is limited.
What is provided on board as standard?
Two long buffet tables, 55 chairs, five wooden tables, six benches spread across the ship and a table for your bar. Also a mini fridge and freezer, a microwave, a kettle, 40 plates, 75 pieces of cutlery, 75 longdrink glasses, wine glasses, 42 champagne glasses, 85 life jackets, 220V power, a first aid kit and cleaning afterwards.
Can I use the ship for a business meeting or presentation?
Yes. The saloon lends itself to meetings, presentations, product launches, staff gatherings and networking receptions. A projector, sound system and microphone are available for hire.
Who is on board as crew?
A captain, a deckhand and a guide. Depending on the size of your group, lifeguards are compulsory; those costs are additional to the charter fee. For larger groups extra service and support staff can also be deployed.
Is there time to set up and decorate?
For packages of four hours or more, one hour before departure and one hour afterwards are included for setting up, decorating, loading and unloading. For shorter packages, extra time is charged at € 50.00 per hour. Decorators and DJs are welcome.
Is a multi-day cruise possible?
Yes. The ship has six cabins with twelve berths in total, each with its own shower, toilet and air conditioning, plus a washing machine and dryer. Route and sailing times are arranged to your wishes. Along the way you can fish, swim, or take the tender to visit creeks, remote villages and plantations. We prepare a tailor-made quotation for this.

Tips
- Book well ahead: reserve early, especially around holidays and in high season.
- Choose your duration carefully: a minimum of four hours is recommended for a relaxed programme.
- Under way or drifting: drifting stays around the Waterkant, sailing heads towards the river mouth — that changes both the atmosphere and the price.
- Agree on technical needs in advance: the ship runs on 220V; ask your DJ to bring an extension cable of about 30 metres.
- Arrange catering in good time: you may bring your own food and drink, but cooking on board is not possible.
- Allow for set-up time: decorating and installing takes time — packages of four hours or more include it.
- Take your waste with you: there is no suitable bin in the immediate vicinity of the jetty.

For last-minute bookings requested less than 24 hours before the transfer, there is a surcharge of €15 per booking. This surcharge is necessary because we have to schedule a driver and vehicle at short notice.
