Jungle Lodges in Suriname compared

Four of the five lodges below are located on the Upper Suriname, a few hours upstream from Atjoni. They look similar on paper, but differ in price, comfort and what’s included in the price. This table puts them next to each other so you don’t have to rely on the photos.

Where they differ

Jungle Resort Pingpe has the widest choice in length, from three to six days, and is the only one to offer a back-to-basics variant: more sober accommodation, lower price, closer to the forest. The entry price is the lowest of the three large lodges.

Anaula Nature Resort is in the mid-range and is the only one where a tailor-made tour is possible — handy if you are traveling with a group or want to sail your own route.

Danpaati River Lodge is the most expensive, but all-inclusive: bus and boat transfer round trip are included in the price. So compare not only the amount, but also what you still have to arrange yourself.

Isadou River Resort is the cheapest way to spend a night inland at €200. Only available as a 3-day course.

Bigi Pan Akira is not in the queue: this is not a jungle but a wetland in the west, with overwater accommodation among the birds. Choose this if you want birds and water, not if you are looking for rainforest.

Which length suits you?
