What does a 3-day tour in Suriname cost?
From € 200 for Isadou River Resort to € 418 for the all-inclusive arrangement at Danpaati River Lodge. In between: Galibi Myrysji (€ 220), Jungle Resort Pingpe (€ 285), Anaula Nature Resort (€ 340) and Bigi Pan Akira Overwater Resort (€ 340).
On which days do the three-day tours depart?
That differs per partner. Isadou departs daily on request at 10.00 am. Galibi Myrysji leaves on Wednesdays at 8.00 am from Torarica. Danpaati departs Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday; Anaula normally Monday and Wednesday. Bigi Pan runs on request, at 7.00 am from Hotel Torarica.
How do you travel into the interior?
By bus and boat. To Isadou the journey takes about 3.5 hours, returning around 4.30 pm on the last day. Galibi is roughly three hours away. Pingpe picks you up between 8.00 and 8.30 am in central Paramaribo and travels by bus, dugout canoe and bus again.
What is included in the price?
With Danpaati, Anaula and Pingpe the arrangement is all-inclusive: return transport, accommodation, all meals and the excursions. With the Orange Tours arrangements (Isadou, Galibi, Bigi Pan) transport, guide, accommodation and meals are included.
How do the lodges differ?
Isadou is the cheapest entry point, on an authentic island in the Upper Suriname river. Pingpe is small-scale, on the riverbank. Anaula and Danpaati are all-inclusive, with Danpaati sitting on its own river island. Bigi Pan is not jungle but wetland in the west, with over-water lodges. See our comparison of the jungle lodges.
Can you see sea turtles?
On the three-day Galibi Myrysji tour you can, but only during the nesting season. Outside that season you visit the indigenous village of Galibi and Christiaankondre without turtles. Ask us about the current period.
