Nature Hike – Walk on Historic Plantation Paths (Suriname)
On the historic plantation around Frederiksdorp, several adventurous hiking trails have been created over the centuries. During this nature walk you walk over centuries-old dams and past overgrown locks — waterworks that were built by hand in the plantation past. The route leads through unspoiled nature, where you will encounter water lilies, water reeds and special date palms that only occur in this area.
Depending on the chosen route, you will walk about 1.5 to 3 kilometers, with a duration of more than 2.5 hours. A quiet, atmospheric way to experience the rich history of the plantation and the surrounding rainforest up close.
