7 Day Sintiadam Jungle Expedition (Suriname)

Discover the wilderness expedition deep in the Amazon rainforest on the Gran Rio, including traditional village visits, rapids, jungle hikes and overnight stays in hammocks in unspoiled nature. The trek takes you upstream past Saamaka villages and impressive rapids to the spectacular Sintiadam area, where you will experience the tranquility, biodiversity, and impressive views that make this region of Suriname unique. Accompanied by a local guide, you will not only take rides on the water but you will also go on foot into the rainforest to discover the flora and fauna and enjoy the camp life in the middle of the jungle.

Day 1 you will depart from Paramaribo or Atjoni by boat on the Suriname River and Gran Rio, past authentic Maroon villages and challenging rapids, and spend the first night in a village accommodation.
Day 2 you will go deeper into the jungle to the base camp at Sintiadam, where you can hike, explore the area and relax by the campfire.
Day 3 is all about a brisk hike to viewpoints such as the Turtle mountain and you will discover the lush nature along the way.
Day 4 is spent on relaxing activities such as bird and wildlife spotting, swimming in the water and short walks with explanations about the special ecosystems around the camp.
Day 5 you will start the return journey, with stops at villages for culture and local interactions, and
Day 6 you will conclude the expedition with the boat trip back to Atjoni and the drive to Paramaribo.

Sintiadam is located in the middle of the pristine Amazon region along the Gran Rio (Suriname).
