The Commewijne River Tour is perfect for history and nature lovers. Explore historic plantations and enjoy the serene beauty of the river. With the chance to spot playful dolphins, it’s an adventure for all ages.
Our first stop is Fort Nieuw-Amsterdam. Fort Nieuw-Amsterdam is the main town of the Commewijne district. Here we visit the open-air museum. You will learn a lot about the different population groups and the slavery past of Suriname. After this we sail on to the former coffee plantation Rust & Werk. Currently about 300 people still live on the former plantation. You get a guided tour through the village and on the way we make a stop to enjoy a refreshing coconut.
Our last stop is former plantation Frederiksdorp. Here you will find beautifully renovated plantation houses. Here you will have the opportunity to buy your own lunch and when the occupancy is not too high you can also take a refreshing dip in the pool. You can relax and completely unwind here. Around 3 p.m. we will leave again towards the pier of Leonsberg.

Tour time: 10 a.m. to ± 4 p.m.

Well-charged batteries: So you can capture every special moment.
Dense shoes/ Good walking shoes: You will be walking cozily on the tour, so put on your most comfortable shoes!
Hat or cap: So that you can protect your face from the tropical sun.
Mosquito Milk: To protect you from insect bites during the tour.
Raincoat/poncho: For unexpected showers and to stay dry.
Sunscreen: For protection from the sun.
Swimwear: At Frederiksdorp, you have the option of taking an invigorating dip in their swimming pool. Please note that use of the pool is subject to availability at the resort. Should the resort be fully booked, it is unfortunately not possible to use the pool.
Backpack: For during the hike to put personal items and possibly your towel or bottle of water
Waterproof bag serving electronics and valuables: In case you want to keep these items safe.
Dry clothes: for possibly after swimming
Change SRD/ EURO/ U$: For buying your lunch and any other drinks.
Storm/bad weather:
The tour company has the right at any time before the departure time, to cancel the trip/ tour in case of unforeseeable weather conditions. The activity/ tour will be rescheduled on another date.
If cancelled between the 14th and the 7th day before departure, a 50% refund will be honored.
If cancelled 6 days or less before departure, unfortunately no refund will be honored.
